Deep ruby-red. Very dark aromas and flavors of medicinal black cherry, crushed rock and licorice pastille. Wonderfully rich and deep, combining a fine-grained texture with superb inner-palate energy. For all its power and concentration, this massive wine boasts terrific delineation. This will take a decade or more to reach its peak.

The 2014 Corton Clos des Cortons Grand Cru from Faiveley has an attractive nose: brambly black fruit, briary and a touch of potpourri. The palate exerts a gentle grip on the entry: quite citric in the mouth, lively and energetic if not profoundly complex. Give this a couple of years to soften and you should have an enjoyable Corton, though I have tasted better in other vintages.
